It is with
much sadness that we hear of the death of Hugh after an illness which he fought with great
determination, and with his wife Pat always at his side.
Hugh and Pat were instrumental in establishing Driving Trials in Dumfries and Galloway and
have been long-time supporters of SCDA and, more recently, Raehills.
SCDA owe Hugh and Pat a huge debt of gratitude for their unstinting support to many events as
stewards and competitors. Without helpers like them our sport of Carriage Driving would not
exist, as no competition can run with competitors only.
Hugh, aged 75, died on Thursday 14th September. He leaves his wife, Pat, one son, two
daughters, and three grandchildren.
Hugh’s funeral is on Tuesday 26th September at 1 p.m. in Wigtown Parish Church, and
thereafter to Wigtown Park Cemetery to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family
flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, to the Blood Bikes, also to the Mistletoe
Therapy UK will be accepted on retiral from the service.
